Description

Mega Man 4 features similar gameplay to the previous three games. The player must complete a series of eight stages in an order of the player's choosing. The protagonist, Mega Man, is able to run, jump, shoot, and climb his way past obstacles and enemies; the game also retains the slide ability which debuted in Mega Man 3. At the end of each stage is a Robot Master boss. Upon defeating a Robot Master, Mega Man gains the Robot Master's signature weapon, which can then be used by the player in subsequent stages. Once all eight Robot Masters are destroyed, two separate sets of linear stages must be completed to finish the game. One major addition to the gameplay in Mega Man 4 is the "Mega Buster", an upgraded version of Mega Man's arm cannon. By holding down the firing button, the player can now charge a shot, resulting in a blast far more powerful than the standard shot. This feature was later used in subsequent incarnations of the franchise.

Mega Man 4 is a amazing game with great stages with fun gimmicks and enemies, fun bosses with interesting patterns, a good line up of Robot Masters like Drill Man, Skull Man, Ring Man, and Pharoah Man for example. On top of that, Mega Man 4 has one of the best set of weapons in the classic series such as Drill Bomb, Rain Flush, Pharaoh Shot, Flash Stopper, Dive Missile, and so on. It also has a fantastic soundtrack that is almost as good as Mega Man 2 and 3. As for the game, I'll say it's my second favorite of the NES Saga behind Mega Man 3. Oh, and here's my ranking of the NES Mega Man Saga from my favorite to least favorite:
1.Mega Man 3.
2.Mega Man 4.
3.Mega Man 2.
4.Mega Man 6.
5.Mega Man 1.
6.Mega Man 5.

i agree, mm5 is too boring

Omega Rockmanロックマン

Coming right off of Mega Man 3, it's not surprising that Mega Man 4 is a great game with an amazing soundtrack. This game is where the music started getting more advanced. More channels were getting used and Capcom was taking advantage of the hardware. Almost every song is a bop and they really enhance the gameplay. As for the game, it's very good as well. Once again the robot masters and their stages don't feel stale or forgettable. If I'm not mistaken, a fan actually designed Dust Man. The stage gimmicks are fun, like Bright Man's on and off lights, or Toad Man's rain. This is also one of the first Mega Man games to have Dr. Wily is not revealed at the beginning to be the antagonist. Although, he still is. Mega Man 4 is an amazing follow up to Mega Man 3, it's a shame 5 or 6 wouldn't exactly live up to the reputation.
Favorites:
Bright Man's Stage
Pharaoh Man's Stage
Dust Man's Stage
Skull Man's Stage (It always sounded like a Dr. Wily Stage theme to me.)
Dr. Cossack Stage 2
Last Boss

Dislike:

Mega Man 4 has a incredible soundtrack! My favorites are the title theme, Toad Man, Skull Man, Bright Man, Drill Man, Ring Man, Both Cossack stages, the boss theme, the stage select, the weapon get theme, and the staff roll. As for the game itself, it's amazing. Firstly, Mega Man 4 has some great stages with each having fun setpieces and great enemies (Expect up n' down). It even has the first auto-scrolling stage in the Mega Man franchise. However, the Wily stages are pretty weak compared to the rest of the stages, but they're not too bad. As for the weapons, they're great! Each weapon in this game is useful like the Devastating power of the Drill Bomb, the Flash Stopper which allows you to shoot enemies while they're frozen, the amazing Rain Flush which is a powerful screen nuke, and the powerful Pharaoh Shot which allows you to fire multiple charge shots and it even let's you hold a charge shot for future use. The only bad weapon in this game is skull barrier which barely hurts enemies and it's completely useless (Even against the boss it's weak against). As for the bosses, they're fun and challenging and they have fun patterns that are fun to learn. Like Pharaoh Man, Drill Man, Ring Man, Skull Man, The Square Machine, and Wily Machine 4 (Phase 2). Overall, Mega Man 4 is a amazing game with great weapons, fun bosses, great stages, and great enemies.
Soundtrack: 8.8/10.
Game: 8.6/10.

I would play Mega Man Powered Up, but I currently don't have a way to play it. If you want to a game where you can play as the robot masters try Mega Man Day in The Lime light 1-3 (Fan Game).

Okay.

I Was Talking About The Game For Mega Man 4. For Me, Mega Man 5 & 6 Have No Challenging Parts Besides One Part In Both Games. The Spike Section In Dark Man Stage 2 (Mega Man 5) & The Secret Path With 4 Extra Lives In (Mega Man 6).

Timofei

I strongly agree!
Mega man 4 is also my favorite NES Mega man!
Charged mega buster is effective and really useful! There are some trolls in Cossack Fortress stage 1, but that's not the big problem. Soundtrack is really amazing! Favorites being Toad man, Pharaoh man, Skull man, Cossack fortress 2, Wily castle 2 and Wily capsule. Weapons are 2nd best in original Mega man series (1st is MM9), but not dust crusher. I think Dr Cossack lives in Russia (like me), because his fortress is pretty interesting and similar. Overall amazing soundtrack and game too.
My favorite robot master is Ring man
My least favorite robot master is Toad man
Soundtrack: A
Game: S
Also this is my 5th favorite Mega man.

For me, Mega man 4 is a great game, but it isn't as good as Mega man 2 or 3. The stages are really fun, the soundtrack is great (namely the weapon get theme), the robot master line up is good (Besides bright man, dust man, and toad man), the bosses are fun and challenging, and the weapons are great! (Besides skull barrier and dust crusher). However, the charge shot sound is really annoying, but it's useful. Lastly, I hate the final boss. Not because it's hard or anything, I hate it because every classic series game after four has the same final boss. (I hope mega man 12 won't have the same final boss).
Soundtrack: 7.5/10.
Game: 6.9/10.

Mega Man 4 is definitely my favorite NES Mega Man.

The controls are less rigid than those of MM3, the level design improved, the addition of the fantastic Charged Mega Buster and there are nice graphics (kind better than their predecessors).

The soundtrack is amazing! Most of the music is successful, the best being Dive Man, Pharaoh Man and Cossack Fortress 2. For some reason, the Wily's Defeat jingle looks like a theme from Back to the Future.

This is where the Mega Man started to exploit their full potential.
Rating for the game and the soundtrack: 80%
Also, Cossack Fortress 2 and Wily Castle 1 tracks are reversed. Could someone correct this?

MM4 is not under rated. I just think that some were disappointed with this opus, thinking that it would be "better" than MM2 or 3 (I am not).
I forgot to specify, but I really like the music from Ring Man, Intro Part 2 and Title Screen.
I still find that Mega Man 5 & 6 remain tough (Wave Man, Gyro Man, Plant Man, Mr. X ...), but not as much as 1-4, it's true.

To Me, Mega Man 4 Is Underrated. The Soundtrack Isn't As Good As Mega Man 3, But The Soundtrack Is Pretty Awesome & It Definitely Belongs In A Top 10 Or Even 5 Mega Man Soundtracks List. My Favorites Being Toad Man, Ring Man, The Title Theme, Bright Man, The Stage Select, & The Amazing Weapon Get Theme. I Can't Answer Your Question Because I Beaten This Game Dozens Of Times And I'm Not Sure About That. Mega Man 4's Difficulty Isn't Too Easy Nor Too Hard Like Ghosts N Goblins Or Ninja Gaiden III. Mega Man 4 Is The Last Of The NES Saga That Has Difficult Sections. Mega Man 5 & 6 Are Too Easy. (To Clarify, I Still Think Mega Man 6 Is A Good Game).

An excellent soundtrack that could do with some revisions. Some tracks have the Megaman entrance blip sound, which could be cut out by ripping from the game, or even by recording from the Legacy Collection music player. In addition, none of the tracks fade out, which could be a positive for some people, but I much prefer fading to an abrupt end.
