Description
Mega Man 2 is a platform and action game like its predecessor, Mega Man. The player controls Mega Man as he traverses eight stages to defeat the bosses, Dr. Wily's Robot Masters: Metal Man, Air Man, Bubble Man, Quick Man, Crash Man, Flash Man, Heat Man, and Wood Man. Each Robot Master features a unique weapon and a stage related to their weapon's power. For example, Air Man shoots small tornadoes and is fought in a sky-themed level, while Wood Man can use a shield of leaves and is found in a forest-themed stage. After defeating a boss, their signature weapon becomes available to the player. The Robot Masters have weaknesses to the weapons of certain other Robot Masters; therefore, choosing the order in which the levels are played is a vital component of the gameplay. After completing certain stages, Mega Man receives a special item. These items create platforms that allow Mega Man to access areas that he otherwise could not.

I've done Superhero Mode before. It's not too bad.
Grind out bolts for all of the upgrades, and then you can just destroy the entire game.
Not on the same level as Mega Man Xtreme 2, but you can still become pretty powerful.
It could be argued that the NES Mega Man games alone are some of the best NES games out there (at least the ones past two, or maybe even just past one).
Mainly because the games feel the closest to a modern experience than a lot of other NES games, and don't feature too much jank or horrible level design.

Honestly, while I'm not as hard on the game, I can agree with you that Mega Man 2 is horribly overrated. Iconic, yes, but every Mega Man game in the classic series to come out after it was definitely an improvement.

Why i hate MM2:
1. All weapons aside of Metal Blade and Quick Boomerang are garbage, because of that this game is unbalanced, which is bad.
2. Level design does not exist after 2nd wily stage.
3. Wily 4 is a boring long stage without any weapon refills before the boss, even though to beat this boss you need full Crash Bomber ammo (you can save some crash bombs, but this wasn't intended so i don't count that)
4. It's overrated.
I love hot takes, but this list is f*cking terrible. I'll give you the first one to an extent, but other weapons like Air Shooter and Leaf Shield have their uses throughout the game. Your second point is really stupid because two levels and a short walk to the final boss shouldn't be that much of a game charger regarding your opinion on the game. That's like saying Mission 15 from DMC3 completely ruins the game because it's very easy to get lost and backtrack many times if you don't remember where pieces of the Orihalcon are. You shouldn't let a crappy level or two completely ruin your experience with the game. Same thing goes for your third point regarding Wily 4 stage. As for Wily 4's boss, if you are already familiar with the game, you should be able to deal with it pretty easily if you abuse the pause trick and wisely use your crash bombs to save weapon ammo (only one shot, but you get what I mean). As for your last point, it's the worst by far. You shouldn't hate something just because it's popular unless you watched/played the thing first to form your own opinion and hopefully, have a actual good argument for why you don't like it.

1: While the weapon balance is not perfect, most other weapons still have their niche uses, so it's not so bad that it has to be mentioned as one of the game's "flaws".
2: Yes it does. A level without level design is like a textbook without text. While the later stages aren't the best levels in the game, they are perfectly functional and shouldn't account for 25% of why you hate this game.
3: I thought Wily 4 didn't have level design according to you? Anyway, I certainly understand your point about Wily 4's boss being terribly designed, but as long as you know what you're doing (as in "you already fought this boss before"), it's not that bad. It's something that would be annoying for first-time players, but it doesn't suck so much that it completely ruins an otherwise playable game.

I completely agree. If you have a hot take on something, you should actually explain why you hate something. That guy only said Mega Man 2 has more flaws than the first game and that he's grateful for what it did for the franchise. Bro didn't even try to make an compelling argument on why he thought Mega Man 1 was better and why he hates Mega Man 2.

I wouldn't call Mega Man 2 terrible (far from it actually, it's great), but I do think it's overrated. It has some major flaws like weapon balancing issues, most of the weapons being booty cheeks, some pretty bad sprite flickering, and that boobeam trap boss where you'll have to kill yourself and farm for weapon energy if you accidentally miss a shot. Sure, the boss is pretty easy if you abuse the hell out of the menu trick where it's shots will just pass through you, but it's still an issue nonetheless. I think Mega Man 2 is far better than Mega Man 1 (not the best of the NES Saga because I think 3 and 4 are much better in my opinion).
I'm assuming the acid drop sounds are hard-coded as "music", which is why it's on here.
Also, while I also prefer 1 over 2 for multiple reasons (more level variety, the fact that I can actually beat it, etc.), and also think it's overrated (I don't think it's bad, it's just that every other NES MM game is better imo), I have to say that your post is literally ragebait. It's up there for sure, but I think there's a number of Mega Man games that beat in terms of both gameplay and music like Mega Man Zero 2, Zero 3, Mega Man X1, Mega Man 3, and Mega Man 9.

This is a very peak game for the late 80's. This is my Number 1 favorite Rockman game above RockMan VII and RockMan IV.

Personally, I enjoyed MM1 more than 2. Despite its flaws and lack of polish, I found it to be more satisfying to play than 2, mostly thanks to the environmental variety. MM2 feels too "mechanical" IMO, and half of the Robot Masters (and their respective stages) kinda blend in. I personally enjoyed 5 for what it was, a polished "sum-up" of the first 4 games, containing the good parts of the previous installments. Not every video game sequel has to "stand out" or "advance the franchise", and MM5 is a perfect example of that.
I do agree with you on Mega Man 5. I feel like the whole "It doesn't do anything different from the previous titles, so it's automatically a trash game" argument to be a little unfair and ridiculous. 5 has tons of things going for it.

I don't like Mega Man 5, but I do agree with your sequel statement. There are sequels I enjoy that just follow the formula in their series because some franchises just have great gameplay that more then make

Mega Man 2 to me is a great game with some flaws. This game had a massive step up in Quality and it only gets better with Mega Man 3 and 4. As for Mega Man 2, it's got a great set of Robot Masters, decent weapons, fun and memorable stages, okay bosses, and a soundtrack that's through the roof. Also, what is that creepy Crash Man song that you were talking about? I'm just curious.
The song is Crash! (let's do it), by Hyadain. The name speaks for itself. It's not really the themes of well, you know, that make it disturbing to me, but the way Crash Man is presented during the song. Honesty I suggest not listening to it. I still can never look at Crash Man in the same way... (Poor Mega Man!)

The robot masters are memorable, their stage themes are all amazing, and overall this game is great. It's definitely a step up from the first game that's for sure. With 2 more robot masters, more Wily stages, E-Tanks (Mmm, E...) and more! The soundtrack is amazing with almost every song I enjoyed. It is weird that there is only one boss theme though, Mega Man 1 had two and Mega Man 2 just has one, odd... Crash Man's theme also got made into that creepy song. Don't look it up... Or do, not my choice.

Mega Man 2 has a rocking soundtrack! My favorites are the title theme, the stage select, Metal Man, Flash Man, Quick Man, Crash Man, Air Man, Wily Stage 1/2, and The Ending theme. The only bad track in this game is Wily 3/4 which is really annoying and it starts to make my ears bleed after a while. The game itself, is great, but it has a handful of flaws. For starters, most of the weapons in this game suck. Such as the Atomic Fire where it takes forever to charge and you only get two charged shots with it. Plus, you leave yourself wide open to enemy fire. The Leaf Shield is good, but when you start to move, it automatically fires the shield. I only use the Leaf Shield during the ladder section in Crash Man's stage. The time stopper stops time, but it doesn't stop until you run out of ammo and you can't pause the game while using it. The rest of the bad weapons aren't worth talking about because they either run out of ammo too Quickly or they're too weak. The only two good weapons in this game is Metal Blade which is way too powered and it makes the rest of the weapons worthless. The other one is Quick Boomerang which has a lot of ammo compared to the rest of the weapons in 2 and it might have the most ammo for a weapon in the classic series. It also does a good amount of damage, so it's also good in the damage department. As for the stages, they're pretty fun like Metal Man, Air Man, the Wily Stages, and Wood Man. Some of them are boring like Heat Man or Flash Man, but most of them are good. As for the bosses, they're once again easy expect for Quick Man because of his random pattern and because he moves too quickly. The other boss that is pretty hard is Wily Machine 2 (The second phase) because his bouncing energy projectiles are next to impossible to dodge. Overall, Mega Man 2 is a great game that has a amazing soundtrack, okay bosses, fun stages, horrible weapons, and great enemies.

Mega man 2 is better than Mega man 1. Mega man 2 has really cool robot masters and weapons ;), but not bubble lead, atomic fire and time stopper. Pipis are really stupid in this game (also in Mega man dr. Wily's revenge and Mega man II GB). In Japanese and Wily wars versions there is no normal difficulty from each version. The soundtrack is Pretty good and better than Mega man 1.
Favorite songs: Title screen, Metal man, Heat man (much like megalomania from undertale) and Wily castle 1.
My favorite robot master is Metal man.
My least favorite robot master is Flash man.
Soundtrack and game: B+
For me, mega man 2 is a great game, but it's overrated. The music is fantastic (Not including wily stage 3/4), the robot master line up is one of the best in the series (Not including flash man), and the stages are really fun. (Not including wily stage 3 and 4 because they are boring and forgettable). Lastly, The Bosses are in the middle, some are hard and some are easy. (That boobytrap boss can screw right the hell off).
(I hate it because of the large amounts of sprite flickering it causes).
Soundtrack: 9/10.
Game: 8.2/10.
