Description
Mario Kart World is a kart racing game. As in previous Mario Kart games, players race as characters from the Mario series in one of many selectable go-karts. The game features 50 playable characters; 24 of the playable characters have alternate unlockable costumes accessed by eating snacks during races, while most of the remaining characters additionally exist as obstacles on the game's tracks. It supports up to 24 players, twice as many compared to previous Mario Kart games, and includes features such as an open-world design, a free-roaming mode, off-roading segments, boat racing, rail grinding and wall jumping.
The soundtrack consists of 7 CDs:
1. Main (title screen, cup intros, course medleys [consisting of respective preludes and main themes], credits, etc.)
2. Free Roam tracks (adap. from other Mario Kart games)
3. Free Roam tracks (adap. from other Mario (adjacent) games)
4. Course preludes
5. Course main themes (w/o preludes; cf: medleys on disc 1)
6. Course final lap themes
7. Miscellaneous

Most of these are now SFX free, there was a way to record these due to a out of bounds glitch without SFX"

Why can't we have the regular track themes with endings instead of fade-out? I'm sorry but most of the medleys sound pretty terrible as they transition to the main track, but I want the versions that end. Sigh....

How were you able to separate the melody for Rainbow Road? I can't think of anything that would change the music for lap 1 besides the drum fill as you transition to lap 2.

If there was dlc for mkw, what characters could be in it?
Since I don't like the long intro on RR, and there's lots of repeated bits making it 8 mins long, I've done an edit removing the intro, some of the repeat bits, and that transition between section 3-4 if anyone is interested. 5 mins long now instead. https://workupload.com/file/G8ncd5tKf7f - Enjoy

Sincere suggestion (bc I can't do it myself):
Work `Rainbow Road (Final Section)` (which includes the final lap fanfare and the section 4 theme) and `Results (Rainbow Road)` into the medley from disc 1, which as of now consists of section 1-4 stitched together (with the 3-4 transition being a tad rough IMO).
I think that would fit quite nicely. My vision would be for `Rainbow Road (Medley)` to convey the entire RR experience:

I'm not jinxing, I admit my complete ignorance about the Frontrunning versions of the tracks and find it very weird that they don't exist and yet people keep asking where are they? Someone even mentioned that they're identical and only their drums change.
Can someone with the actual game verify that when you're in first place the music does not change?

People of the future are going to be confused since no tracks are marked like that as the description claims, heh.
Anyway, are we done? That the game doesn't actually have front running versions really cut on the imaginary tracks I thought we needed. 400 is a nice, round number. Thanks everyone for your efforts, I don't think I had ever seen the community involved as much as this in a gamerip (unless something like this happened with the Brawl Volumes.)

Not exactly, I looked at the FLAC size, and I'm already alarmed: 7,554 MB is just absurd. Seriously, that alone is the size of Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIII alone! Who would download a ZIP file that large? They would be better off downloading the MP3s to save precious space on their devices.

its so hard to find a good one of these full game rips because there's be so much to actually dump
but i think splitting the intermissions from the main tracks would be better than having a full minute of leadup when most of them are less than 20 seconds
When the heck does Rainbow Road without melody play?? Or melody by itself? (track 4.15)
The melody mutes for a second when transitioning to section 2, there was a trick to fall off Rainbow Road, go to Boo Cinema's movie screen, and for some reason section 1' s melody and section 3 play together at the same time. And then I just invert section 3 to get only the melody, then invert the melody on section 1 to remove it.

Where are these new lengthy intros to the grand prix tracks from? I generally prefer medley versions in most cases, but here, pretty much every grand prix track takes like a full minute to actually get to the part you expect to hear when clicking on the track, and it kinda kills the mood for me. I think it might be preferable to have versions with and without the intros, but I'm not the expert.

I'd say don't do the frontrunning or final lap versions, but do the route leadup songs for each course. Because they're variations on a jazz standard rather than tempo changes or percussion additions
We just need the "Complete Medley" versions to feature the route leadup and frontrunning versions within them, so we can have it all.
Aw, dang! That's a lot of tracks! Some of them are actually from my favorite courses (such as Ribbon Road) so I'm glad they made it here.

I know there's a tough question of how many course song variations to upload, and thanks to the size of this OST I'd say don't do the frontrunning or final lap versions, but do the route leadup songs for each course. We're living in the "before times", when the Switch 2 hasn't been hacked yet. Eventually we'll live in the "after times", the Switch 2 is hacked and we can make actual gamerips of the music and conveniently listen to them, and maybe even find "Unused Tracks" from Mario Kart World! They could be stored in there already waiting for a DLC to access them in the future! A man can dream...
PS - I fully agree with you, this may be the best video game soundtrack of all time.

I've never been a nintendo music person, but this music is legit incredible and could pass off as several professional jazz albums, all within a SINGLE game.
But knowing Nintendo, they'll make sure we have no way to conveniently listen to the fantastic work these musicians did.

This album should be in the "remix" category, because it was neither ripped from the game files, nor released as a soundtrack.
I greatly appreciate this digitally-upscaled release and will be listening to this version until a gamerip or official soundtrack exists, but I feel mislead by the album category being "gamerip". Once an actual gamerip of this OST exists, I'd like it to be clearly labelled

Then this album seems kind of disingenuous. Is it correct to assume there was cleanup done to remove noise (like sound effects) from the audio tracks?

It has happened before with other brobdingnagian albums (I always wanted to use that word, it seems appropriate here.)
Well, you do raise a point here, since we have to consider the over 200 music tracks that could have Frontrunning & Final Lap variations, including the ones that play in the Intermission tracks. Mario Kart 8 DX was a narrow one when it came to the limits of this site: 598 tracks, and almost 2 GB for the MP3 files, so the quality had to suffer to fit it in. This could be a similar situation, so I fear the quality will degrade to keep the size down, or a potential split would occur, one for the main core soundtrack, another for the other Mario Kart game music tracks, plus one last one for the miscellaneous music. The latter option also raises the risk of Nintendo noticing, and throwing a DMCA claim like they usually do nowadays....
Thanks so much for this update!! It sounds so much better, and it's more complete!! Hoping for medleys for each racetrack including the routes and outros! Could you someday add the cup intros, as well? Each grand prix cup has its own intro and they're all fantastic. Again thank you for all the work you've already done and still do :)

What did they do to L.A. Laps? Why does it sound like it's drunk. I mean it wasn't the best in MK8 but this is weird. Vancouver Velocity is actualy fire
