Description

In 1994 those that pre-ordered Sonic the Hedgehog 3 from Toys "R" Us in the US the music CD album Sonic the Hedgehog Boom. This album contained music from the US Sonic CD soundtrack Sonic Spinball. However, the US Sonic CD music tracks weren't just straight copies of the music from the game. Many had extended intros, extra instruments and entirely of sections. Unlike the Japanese soundtrack's beta loops, where we know how they were supposed to play, and the technical limitations that caused them to be removed, we know nothing about the extended bits from the Boom album or even if they meant to be used in the US soundtrack at all. For all know they could been created just for the album release. The only small clue that suggests the album tracks were going to be used in the US soundtrack comes from Stardust Speedway Bad Future, as the released version fades out right as a section exclusive to the album starts. Some of these exclusive parts from the album release were into the Taxman release of the US soundtrack, but not all of it. As part of my Missing Music Restoration mod I've included as many of these exclusive album bits as I could as long as it didn't interfere with looping. Because we have no idea how the US album tracks were originally intended to be used my US restorations shouldn't be looked at as "official" like my JP restorations and instead as just another fun way to experience Sonic CD's US soundtrack.

This blows. Why can't I find the original Redbook Audio 22Khz Sample Rate versions from the Mega CD original anywhere?
I literally have to open Kega Fusion and emulate an ISO of Sonic CD just to hear the music how it's supposed to sound and then I can't hear the Past themes because they are encoded in PCM.

The dynamic range in these files is clearly compressed. And so is the bitrate which isn't constant 1411kpbs but it's variable dogphooey even in the FLAC files which makes me think that the FLAC files are just bloated MP3 files. No doubt sourced from the Taxman remaster, along with those awful beta loops.

Louder =/= Better
The reason the original Mega/Sega CD versions of the tracks sound quieter is because they have much higher dynamic range. So if you have a non-welfare audio setup they sound much better than this.

tidal tempest (both JP and US) is ethereal. so are most of the "past" themes in this ost honestly. one of the gems of the sonic series.

I found the songs interesting when it comes to the "activate the looping" part, some the change is slight, others are very subtle. I really liked the looping part of Collision Chaos (present) US ver.

But frankly, it's sad for the fans who like to download and have the songs available to listen to. Not everyone, like me, can afford to buy the original products (because it is too expensive or not available in the country of residence)
And even digital platforms have all the albums available. I would choose to buy the CDs. But in addition to being extremely expensive, it ends up being even more expensive to order to have it delivered here (Brazil).
I've been saving the songs from this site (blessed site) before they removed the original albums 1, 2, 3, sonic cd, S&K. I'm very careful not to lose them because it's very nice to have them to listen to anytime anywhere without needing internet or anything like that.

This used to be labeled as a restored album that gave the tracks proper loops and other minor things. Either way I still find the whole "no official Sonic albums" thing kinda bogus since we have Sonic Super Smash Bros Anthology album, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed Re-engineered Soundtrack, and this one stay because they all feature different loops. Also most of Sega's games are here so them only taking down Sonic doesn't really make sense considering they've always been super kind to the fanbase.

My only question is why are the Fanmade US past themes on here? I get it's to prevent it from getting Blacklisted and Convinete to people who can't Download The Videos The songs came from on YouTube, but I don't think that They would count considering the rest of the Album is The Official Track.
