Hi, I recently discovered this site and I want to compliment you on your work! Can I ask you briefly how you got the tracks, which are the "original" files of the game on this site, and which album you think I should download for the most faithful listening? (I hope I was clear) Because I saw different versions when I searched the game.

The original raw gamerip files you can get from here but you need VGMStream plugin in foobar to playback them: https://vgm.hcs64.com/?text=donkey+kong+returns

As to releases: There is a short official promo soundtrack which however has bad audio quality, !!!!!'s release which I used as guideline and is the most complete but still based on the original compressed 32khz files, and then there is mine here which is basically the same as !!!!!'s but I left jingles and cutscene sfx music away. Aside of that I completely remastered, upscaled and declicked the music to get rid of the compressed lo-fi sound that the gamerip files have.

What is the difference in this album?

I made this based on Wii gamerip files which sounded better than even the club nintendo promo CD. I then arranged and mixed all the tracks very similar to another release made by !!!!! but didnt bother with cutscenes and jingles and can be that there are some minimal differences. After that I upscaled, declicked and remastered all the music to sound better and cleaner.
