The funniest part was when Nintendo lost the ROM of the original Super Mario Bros. and had to download one from some site to sell it in their online shop. The ROM's dumper was immortalized that way.
But imagine if they successfully had stopped ROMs on the internet, Super Mario Bros. could have been lost forever! The ROM scene had to save it!

But anyway I'm glad this drama is finally over. I personally believe both physical and digital preservation are valid and important but these days it's more convenient and future proof for preserving the roms online and emulation in general since discs and carts will not last forever, even if it hurts that we probably won't play most if not everything in the next 100 or so years on its intended native hardware. Its better than what Nintendo, Sony, and even Sega has done in these past couple of years I can tell you.

For the profits, they already made their profits, their profits are not going to decrease if people do modding, it's like blaming you for not increasing their profits because you didn't donate to them the money you spent on eBay.
You should follow your own morals and not listen to any gamerip in khinsider, you should buy the games if you want to listen to the music, imagine all the money the developers are losing whenever you listen to a song!

I had no idea this was a thing. I read in the comments that this seems to be an issue with certain production batches, but the fact this has happened to a good amount of people is kinda scary. Thankfully my carts still work.

I know these games are being sold second hand but like I said, they aren't being officially sold by Nintendo or any of the developers anymore since the 3DS has been discontinued for years. Makes it more justified for people to download a bunch of roms since they're essentially abandonware for the most part, and the money for these games isn't going to anybody besides the sellers.
