And it turns out, I actually did unpack "DoodleBob & The Magic Pencil" and i am the one that basically ripped everything from this game, since i did this back in March 2025

https://xpdev.itch.io/doodlebobdecompilation https://gamejolt.com/games/doodlebobdecompilation/981784

This Decompilation was way more difficult than what you've might imagine, requiring a lot of trial and error just to decompile the game, as it took a few days to get it right, so it can be ported to many systems like the PSVita, DS, 3DS, Wii or Wii U via. Homebrew, and even the Web and Mobile with Scratch 3.0, TurboWarp and PenguinMod

GMDecompiler, GMKSplitter and GMEdit all pretty much helped preserving and decompiling this game almost 20 years later.

The music is actually stuff ripped from vgmusic (not kidding when i say that), as TechnoSuperguy rushed the game out just in time for December 2008. Speaking of the music, the Penciltron Music is actually bugged since the original MIDI has more instruments and it's not supposed to be just pianos, this is mainly a Game Maker 7-8 issue.

"the only thing I learned was that the game's sprites used Paint Shop Pro" - I thought the game's sprites were made with Scratch 1.3 or MS Paint, considering they have similar bitmap options available.

That's what I thought I learned: that was just from me looking at the game's raw .exe data via Notepad++. The sprites in the decompilation do not mention "Paint Shop Pro". But I do wonder, why is "Paint Shop Pro" in the game's raw .exe file?

I decided to try ripping the game myself using GMDecompiler and GMKSplit... That was... easy as hell... But now my DoodleBob game folder is bloated full of tools just for straightforward a$$ scripts, music, and sprites:P

Currently, there is no way to fully decompile and extract the DX version of DoodleBob & The Magic Pencil, since that version has some improvements from the original, and it has been rebuilt from the ground up using Game Maker Studio 2 instead of Game Maker 7, tried GMEdit and got nothing since DoodleBob DX needs it's source file dumped before using GMEdit, and there is no data.win file in DoodleBob DX, it's all just source file rips, i'll use SpriteRipper to rip the DX sprites and assets plus GMEdit

DoodleBob DX exe actual are compiled zip file with library, actual exe and data.win, if you try open compiled exe in WinRAR.

I found the SM64 Slider theme in another GameMaker game called, "Mario Builder" (Which I used a long time ago)

Cool, all I did was open it as raw data and the only thing I learned was that the game's sprites used Paint Shop Pro. ;-;

I know for Game Maker Studio 2 exist extractor that extract files from data.win.

This uses GameMaker 7, and older versions of GameMaker don't come with data.win files and are just packaged .exe files like Godot games.

Prob a live MIDI ripper or some GameMaker file extractor. (This game is made with an old version of GameMaker. The same software used to make Pizza Tower, Undertale and Deltarune.)
