Description

Like mahjong, Azumanga Donjyara Daioh is a tile-matching game. Each player is given eight blocks each round. To win a game, you must have three sets of three different characters (three of each character). You can also win in other ways with two sets. In addition, there is a special Chiyo-chichi piece in the game. When you get it, it is automatically a stand-in for any of your pieces. If you have 2/3 sets it works just as a stand-in, and you receive a "Reach." When you manage to get two full sets and half a set, you also achieve a "Reach." This mode makes your character automatically move pieces, until you get the last one you need for three full sets.

If you haven't checked VGMDB already (since I'm late with the response);
The game's music was composed by https://vgmdb.net/artist/2374 - Yasuhito Watanabe and "DARK." (who I assume to be https://vgmdb.net/artist/13094 - Yoichi Shimizu based on some credits for a One Piece game the both contributed to).

Aforementioned One Piece game would be One Piece: Grand Battle! 2 (which can be listened to https://downloads.khinsider.com/game-soundtracks/album/grand-battle-2-ps1-gamerip-2002 - here). At the moment, I assume that Yoichi Shimizu was responsible for Azumanga Donjyara Daioh's Menu theme; The flute seems to be the same as in something like "Hill Road with a Sea Breeze".

As for Swimming Pool Match, I would go with Yasuhito Watanabe as the composer but I could super easily be mistaken there; it's only that way with the complimentary brass throughout the track that makes me think of him for some reason. One of Watanabe's confirmed tracks for the One Piece title would be "Holiday in the Park".

I checked the OST out, and of course the first song I end up listening to see if the music style is familiar is We Are! Truly a productive and intelligent decision.
But yes, both games share a lot of instruments, and they overall sound very similar.
I'm just glad I found more songs by the same composer (or in this case, composers).

I randomly heard of an Azumanga Daioh game existing, but I seriously didn't expect the OST to be this much of a banger.
My favorite is Swimming Pool Match. Thank you to @BrevonJr for adding this missing track just a week ago.

Also, does anyone know who composed the music for this game? It's probably not Masaki Kurihara (the composer of the anime), since the music style is noticeably different, and he doesn't seem to be credited. Maybe I can find out by simply checking out the credits, I might do that later.

I struggled to find the full soundtrack anywhere online, with YouTube only having a handful of the songs. Having never really ripped a game's music before, I had to dig around through thousands of audio files in the game to make sure I got all of them. It's a great soundtrack! Definitely needs more love
