This soundtrack sounds pretty bad, which makes sense as the game uses the default GBA sound-driver: MusicPlayer2000 (aka. Sappy). In addition, since the developers (The Climax Group) lacked time & resources to develop a custom GBA sound-driver (as was done for the PS1 version), and 3rd party drivers (e.g. GAX) weren't widely available or even released, the composer, Matt Simmonds (4mat), was stuck struggling with Sappy than working with the tools he knows. No wonder then why the game's sound quality dives past Rock Bottom.
As an aside, I was the one to write the updated descriptions for the PS1 & GBA versions of SuperSponge. I wanted to make sure information about the game, clarify the PS1 game's soundtrack is not CD audio, and give credit to both the sound driver used along with the composer (I additionally kept the original description of the GBA version there alongside my updated description to preserve what was initially there). Do you think I did a good job?
Yeah, you did pretty well! Also I did see that there's an uncompressed version of the GBA soundtrack seemingly exclusive to SoundCloud, so maybe that could be uploaded one day. Regardless, the composition shines through the mediocre sound engine in my opinion!

good music, however, comparing to the ps1 version, theres the obvious dip in quality because its the gba. but in almost every song, at certain points where the ps1 soundtrack holds a note, the gba version does this goofy frickin "wurr wurr wurr" noise and it sounds ever so stupid. i love it, it's so dumb.
