Description

The play mechanics of The G.G. Shinobi are roughly based on the Genesis game The Revenge of Shinobi, but with the addition of a character-switching system. The player starts the game as Joe Musashi (the red ninja), whose goal is to rescue four kidnapped allies who are being held captive in different stages. There are four stages. These can be played in any order. Each ninja character has a unique weapon, ninjutsu (typically consuming one ninjutsu spell) and ability.

It's a cool soundtrack!
Funny how Yuzo Koshiro recycled some of the music from Revenge of Shinobi in this game.

And to think that the original Shinobi arcade game and its many ports already had a pretty iconic soundtrack, and then Koshiro comes in and knocks this one out of the park. "Spirit" in particular really has that unhinged Yuzo energy... One of the greatest to ever to do it!

Are you kidding me? This has been massively overlooked in terms of genius creating amazing melodies with such limited tools. Classic. Well done you guys. Massive respect to the composer.

That's because the composer is Yuzo Koshiro. If you look at the stuff he's done you'll see that he's worked on a lot of other great games like Streets of Rage and the Revenge of Shinobi, also composed for a bunch of Master System games.
