There's some issue with the embedded timestamps in the files. With certain players this isn't an issue, like MPV or anything based on ffmpeg it seems, but for others it causes the the player to skip half of the song (I had this issue with Strawberry and VLC). Audacity can also open the files just fine.

I've fixed this locally for myself using ffmpeg. Here's a shellscript that can do it (remove the [ICODE]mv[/ICODE] command to avoid deleting the originals, run it from the same folder containing the files or add a line to [ICODE]cd[/ICODE] to the correct folder before the call to [ICODE]mkdir[/ICODE]):

This will forcibly reencode the files and correct the timestamps by converting them to raw wave files and then back to flac.

There might be a simpler way to do this but I've used this trick before when fixing other tracks with timestamp issues (usually ffmpeg reports a problem along the lines of "non monotonic timestamp" which I think some players just get scrambled on), specifically the xwm files from a Skyrim HQ music mod into m4a's with the same 192 kbps bitrate.

I can upload the corrected files if allowed/desired, I just never uploaded anything here before.

I used to frequently listen to this awesome soundtrack straight from the game disc on a CD player back in the 90s, and something weird have drawn my attention:

Why the track "Mech Monster" sounds considerably different from the original?

I wonder if those are very low volume back tracks that became louder during the ripping process....

Played the FLAC version on Windows Media Player with no problem. Could be your system.

somethings wrong the flac version of track 15.replay (time attack) it hangs on the music player and when trying it on another media player like vlc it skips and starts over.

I like the menu music is on here, but it doesn't sound like the original that the PS1 hardware generates. A lot of others have this track missing altogether.

A user brought up that one song was a different version from a different soundtrack and I replaced it with the correct version. The song was Mathemabeat.

It is a gamerip because the soundtrack is two-looped with fadeout. You're correct about Mathemabeat though. I didn't know this at the time as I never played the game itself. I was interested because of the 20th anniversary version for Volcano Vehicle.

The quality's great, however it should be noted that this is not a gamerip. Take track #5 "Mathemabeat" for instance: it's a more recent mix (probably taken from the "RAGE RACER REMIX -THE 20TH ANNIV. SOUNDS- + Extra Disc" album), not the one you'd hear in-game.

This might be the highest quality rip of this soundtrack i've found online
