Released on February 27th 1996, Pocket Monsters Red & Green are the first games and the first generation of the Pocket Monsters (Pokemon) series. A revised version, Pocket Monsters Blue, would be released to mail subscribers via. CoroCoco Comic on October 15th 1996 (before making it's retail debut on October 10th 1999, a month before Pokemon Gold and Silver were released in Japan), Pocket Monsters Blue refined several glitches that Red and Green had, made some changes to most of the graphics and places, and introduced some new sprites, this would be the basis for the International version of Pokemon Red and Blue and even Pokemon Yellow. Pocket Monsters: Pikachu was released on September 12th, 1998 as the last of the first generation games, it refined everything and fixed a ton of stuff found in the prior 3 games, it introduced following Pokemon to the overworld (Pikachu) and Game Boy Printer support, this game parallels the 1997 Pocket Monsters/Pokemon anime with the Team Rocket Duo (Musashi & Kojiro) as antagonists, only in the International Version of Pocket Monsters: Pikachu (Pokemon Yellow Version: Special Pikachu Edition), this is the first game to be released for the enhanced Game Boy Color system in international countries, giving more flair to the graphics, by the time Pocket Monsters: Pikachu was released in Japan, the Game Boy Color wasn't even released yet.
Most of the music found in Pokémon Red, Green, Blue & Yellow would later be incorporated into the Pokemon Gold & Silver Spaceworld 1997 Demos, as those games used the Gen 1 games as a base.
