For those of you who don't read Japanese, this is the soundtrack for the movie "The Cat Returns", as it was marketed in English.

This is a beautiful soundtrack. I've been searching for this for ages, ever since I watched the movie, and the soundtrack does not disappoint. It contains all of the songs from the movie, and some extras.

I give it a 9 because there were a handful of tracks not really all that worth listening to. They make great background music for the movie, but not so much for listening to.

However, the more melodic songs are absolute gems. My favorite, and the one song that truly made me search for this album is 9.Jujigai Nite, the street organ song that plays when the main character in the movie finds the miniature village. This song is spellbinding, enough to give me chills and nearly put me to tears. Another top recommendation is 4.Neko to Onahashi, a very touching flute song played an early flashback scene in the film.

The music here is solid, most of them having a very classical quality with a modern edge. Some of the more upbeat songs sound similar to work by John Williams, though unique to Yuji Nomi's own style.

A great soundtrack. Solid 9 out of 10.
