Dig Dug Digging Strike is a soft reboot of the Dig Dug series, containing Mr. Driller style and characters, that was developed by Bullets for the Nintendo DS and published by Namco for Japan and North America and by Atari for the PAL release. The game follows series protagonist Taizo Hori, bitter about his son Susumu getting more attention than him—after a chain of tropical islands is threatened by monsters, Taizo sets out to defeat them and reclaim his fame. As it uses capabilities of the DS, gameplay combines mechanics established in the original Dig Dug (on the bottom touchscreen) and its sequel Dig Dug II (on the top screen), centered around sinking a large "boss" character into the ocean by digging under large stakes in the ground.
