I feel like this is the canon ending to Ayana's path. In the Canary Visual Guide, it states that Ayana's path was not supposed to be considered a happy ending. Either this is the canon ending the canary series or there was gonna be a sequel to Canary that would've sealed the path between Ayana and Youhei. Unfortunately it never happened due to the Green Green case that happened between the producer of the game and the executive producer of Front Wing. In an alternative world, Canary and Green Green would've both gotten their canon endings if the executives at Front Wing would've gave them the time to release game while also working on Hooligan.

My theory is that Green Green was an expensive project just like Canary. According to a recent interview video on Bamboo that was made before OVERDRIVE's last gig concert, he states that Canary and Green Green were both expensive products to make. I assumed that by this statement that Front Wing sold off the project to a different company due to the fact that the executive producer was worrying about two different games which were both releasing on the same year, and could've put the company in debt most likely. To prevent this, he either had to sold off either Hooligan or Green Green which was probably the scenario that happened. It's sad how it had to come to that point, but what's done is done, and you can't undo what's already been done. Which created the Green Green case which I'm assuming the executive producer of Front Wing wanted the GROOVER brand back, which failed. I feel like if he told the team a little sooner about delaying Green Green's release date to 2002 of the Summer after Hooligan's fall release in 2001, they would've easily prevented this from happening and create a separate branch like Survive or Staples which could've been where GROOVER would be named. However, other games like 426 or Crank In, would probably not exist or would've released along the same year with Green Green.
