Description

Another Metroid 2 Remake (AM2R for short) is a PC fan-made remake of Metroid 2: Return of Samus (released on the Nintendo Game Boy in 1991), released in 2016. The remake sets out to revamp the GameBoy title in a way that's more reminiscent of Metroid: Zero Mission and Super Metroid, while also including new, original content to give the adventure even more depth.

After a v1.1 update following suit, Nintendo of America striked down the game's developer, DoctorM64, with a DMCA (Digital Media Copyright Act) takedown, since they forbid fan remakes of their currently available games on the market. This is also because Nintendo would later work with MercurySteam to make their own official remake called Metroid: Samus Returns. Leaving his project to dust, DoctorM64 joined Moon Studios to be a Level Designer for one of their games, Ori and The Blind Forest.

The fan community after the strikedown of the project, however, consistently provides new unofficial updates to the game, including widescreen, new game modes, installable mods and much more. One of those changes is the improved soundtrack, which you can find here.

Absolutely love how the Golden Temple theme uses the percussion from Chozo Ruins from Metroid Prime. One of my favorite percussion themes ever!

Beautifull soundtrack, for a more than amazing game. Almost all tracks are nice to listen to outside of the game, and even those that aren't, still hold up in the context of the game.
