| Description: The Thaumaturge is a story-driven role-playing game with morally ambiguous choices, taking place in the culturally diverse world of early 20th-century Warsaw. In this world, salutors exist: esoteric beings that only thaumaturges can truly perceive and use for their needs. The incredibly atmospheric soundtrack to The Thaumaturge was created by Agnieszka Wlazły and Sebastian Syczyński. The two composers and musicians tell about their approach to the musical side of the game and how they succeeded: “While working on the music for The Thaumaturge, we pondered how to blend the spirit of Warsaw in 1905 with the character of our main protagonist, thaumaturgy, and Salutors. The Warsaw of that time was a cultural melting pot, so we utilized elements of Polish folk music, with additional Balkan, klezmer, and Caucasian aspects, as well as traits of late Romanticism. Electric guitars and blues, which accompanies Wiktor from the beginning of his story in The Thaumaturge, added a more modern sound to the whole score. This way, we achieved a mix of styles that we believe fulfilled the concept of such cultural diversity, supporting the world depicted in our game. It contains elements of melancholy and mysticism, adjusting to each scene with an appropriate musical mood. Such an atmosphere of the soundtrack could only be realized thanks to the involvement of great musicians. The voices you can hear in it, as well as some percussion instruments, belong to the Sutari trio. On the guitar, which was the leading instrument of the titular thaumaturge's motif, is Krzysztof Łochowicz. On the violin, you can hear Mateusz Smoczyński, on the accordion Marcin Jabłoński, on the double bass - Sebastian Wypych. On the clarinet and duduk - Przemysław Skałuba, and on folk instruments: fiddle, hurdy-gurdy, and lute - Robert Jaworski.
