Description
THE GREAT DESPAIR is the digital single by On-lyne, the in-universe ’90s boy band introduced with Warframe: 1999. Musically it leans into late-’90s pop/soft-rock—clean guitar arpeggios, piano/strings, gated drums, and stacked vocal harmonies that swell into a key-change finale—framing lyrics about memory and loss that mirror the update’s alt-1990s timeline and fractured identities. In-game, the song is diegetic: On-lyne exists within the story world, and an 8-bit arrangement, “The Great KIM,” plays on the POM-2 terminal and can be unlocked as a Somachord track—and appears as one of the Bonus Tracks for the official soundtrack—tying the release directly to gameplay. The single premiered alongside the update’s reveal and later appeared on the Warframe: 1999 (Official Soundtrack); this page reflects the single edit.
