Restoration project for the OST of Star Fox 64, under the care of Lawrence Robak.
OG YouTube Description:
look no further for the crispest, clearest Star Fox 64 rendition in the universe! good headphones/speakers recommended of course. I'll also upload them all separately soon
with the approaching release of the remake on Switch 2, I figured it was finally time to release what I've been hoarding for... over a year now lol. if you look at the edit dates in the Google Drive, you can see some of the tracks have been unedited as long ago as March 2025...
some of you may be wondering why I did this even though it was already "restored" back in 2020 after the Nintendo Gigaleaks (remember those?) (shoutout to @Armaggedun_). while those samples are indeed a little cleaner than the ones in-game, everything I used here was taken from the ORIGINAL sample CDs and synthesizers the composers Koji Kondo and Hajime Wakai were using in their studios. that means much higher sample rates, and even a lot of stereo samples! instruments and panning are also fixed. I'll make a sort of explainer video soon
the track order here is also different from what you might be used to, depending on where you choose to listen. I put them in an order that makes sense to me, but if you want your own order you can download them from my linked Google Drive. as a bonus, that also guarantees you hear the highest sound quality!
this is also my first time doing a nice-looking, well-produced video 👉👈. it took literal hours to figure out the music visualizer (shoutout to @Sh4rkk_ [can't tag for some reason]) and even more hours to render... why is it so intensive anyway? I actually wanted to make the bars segmented to give it the look of a classic synthesizer display, but I couldn’t figure it out in time. one quirk I found though is that the "smoothing" feature changes strength depending on the song’s length, so short tracks like the demos and Bill/Katt themes look very fast and jerky. oh well, at least the main tracks look good
I wish I could talk about my favorite tracks and the process, but then I'd end up rambling forever. all I can say is that the only unrestored track is the Select theme, since those sounds still haven't been found. but rest assured, once they do I'll be updating the Google Drive right away. until then, enjoy!
