| Description: | Description: Squirrel King is an unlicensed Sega Genesis game based on Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers for the NES/Famicom. It was developed by Gamtec and originally released on 1994 or 1995 and later rereleased by Piko Interactive, Super Fighter Team and AtGames. Later hacks were released on 1998 as Super Mario World (unrelated to the eponymous Super NES game) and on 2015 as Fixiki (The Fixies). It is unknown who developed these later hacks; in Super Mario World's case, it may be ex-Gamtec staff. While Super Mario World's publisher is unidentified, Fixiki's publisher is Bootlegames (an unlicensed spin-off of MasterOfRemakes Interactive) since June 20, 2025, released alongside the illegal rerelease of Mega Bomberman (which means why the plot is also related to the Bomberman series). The plot also differs between them. While the Squirrel King and Super Mario World's plots are just to save the world, Fixiki's plot consists of saving the Japanese city of Sapporo from a group of thieves and thus save all the Fixies and Bombermen from being destroyed for good. Music by Liao Han Ming. The music is mostly original, although several of the songs used in this game are renditions of music from other sources. The music "Secret Nucleon Dump" track is the Donkey Kong theme written by Yukio Kaneoka, while the "Graveyard Encounter" track is "Be Prepared" from Disney's The Lion King composed by Elton John. |
