Description: | Description: - Track notes - Track 01: This track is the second bossfight track and was also used for the second trailer of the game. After months of composing during the alpha and beta stages of game development it's becoming clear which of the musical themes and melodies are representing the game. The boss theme is one of them. The melody has this crushed 8 bit sound, while the modern beat represents the fresh feel of the game. It says; we love all the good things about classic games, but we like to go forworth. Track 02: This is a unique track on the OST. It is actually not (yet) featured in the game. But since the Megabyte Punch theme itself was pretty Popular among fans and reviewers, I decided to make a full version of the theme using real synths like Moog the Rogue and Prophet 08. For most of the other tracks, I used soft synths and chiptune emulators instead. Track 03: Like all megabyte Punch's battletracks, this one began as a remix of the original Electro Caves track. It's funny how different styles of music can melt into one; which became the game's soundtrack style. Track 04: Frostbyte Deep is the first Fighting track I wrote for Megabyte Punch, having that typical electro feel to it. After I found out, it fitted the game; I integrated that style in for all the battletracks. Track 05: It is always fun to make theme based track. Egyptian style levels ask for exotic themed music. And mixing things up, is what makes composing for games interesting. So here we end up with an electro arabian style track. Track 06: Lost Megaclopolis is all about altitude and modern city skylines. Consequently I wanted the theme to sound modern, like you could here the track on your radio station; while still referring to our old gaming days indeed. Track 07: Sometimes a prelude of Bach can be of great inspiration for a game's soundtrack. This track contains some very classical sequences. I also used horn like synths to give a royal feel to the fortress. There are also powerchords in the background to make it rocky and industrial. Track 08: This track is like "Ancient Tech Ruins" a thematic song. I can't deny, I'm influenced by other game soundtracks on this one :) Track 09: More often then you would like, you have to work under alot of time pressure. And sometimes that leads to the best things. The Megabyte Punch theme was written in half an hour, for one of the early alpha builds. The funny thing is, that I haven't touched the theme ever after. It was just right. Track 10: The first true track for the game. From this starting point; which is literally the starting point in-game, the music still had to develop in a certain direction. But as this track may seem very different from the stronger fighting tracks; it always felt right to come back to the village level, and feel at home with this cute flute like melody. So I decided to keep it that way. Track 11: A bit dark electro track. feel free to buy some goodies here! Track 12: Like "Black Market" this is a minimal track. And it emphasizes the electro style of the game. After all it's an electro fighting game! Track 13: The very first Boss Battle Track; which is also used for the first trailer. Tracks 20-25: During the gametesting sessions we found out that the music sounded too repetitive when continuously repeating. So we came up with the idea of alternating the music with ambient like tracks. Those new tracks also emphasize the adventurous side of the game. Megabyte Punch isn't only a fighting game in the end ;) Track 26: This track is a mixture of sound design and music. It contains elements of the main theme and acts as sound design for the visuals. Track 27: Megabyte Punch hasn't been much about griefing and sad emotions, but there are a few moments that are. I think it's one of those moments in which MBP shows his RPG elements. |
