Description

Disney's The Lion King for the iconic 8-bit Nintendo console was hastily ported from the Game Boy version. Unlike the portable version with nine levels (with last three playing as an adult Simba), this port has only six that are playable with Simba as the cub. The game is the last official Nintendo Entertainment System title ever released, its date was May 25, 1995, despite the copyright is 1994. Because of rushed development, not only three levels were deleted from porting, but also "To Die For" wasn't completed or used for the fourth level, "Stampede", which uses "This Land" instead. This also prevented Simba from fighting Scar, though Scar's head appears if the game is over.
Original music by Elton John and Hans Zimmer. Kevin Bateson adapted the music.

The "Long live the king" (i.e. Game Over) screen perfectly reflects how this version was bad (expect the music and difficulty).

May 25, 1995…
Virgin Interactive: Let's giving those lazy kids this porting horror for their "console."
Dark Technologies: Yeah. Let's!
(After that…)
Sega Mega Drive (Genesis): Long live the king! (rips the NES off the roof)
Nintendo Entertainment System: (falls into road, full of cars)
Game Boy and Super NES: NO!!!
Game Gear and Master System: AHAHAHAHAHA!!!
Master System: Bye bye, you Nintendo Disentertainment System! (continues laughing)
(the NES dies)

Actually, the iconic 8-bit console, born in July 15, 1983, died in in August 14, 1995 as NES and in September 25, 2003 as Famicom.
Rest in peace 8-bit Nintendo console (1983-2003).

The music is decent, but it's a shame that the calm "Pridelands" track is used in the dangerous "Stampede" level. Looks like, Virgin Interactive[ISPOILER], being British company,[/ISPOILER] hated the NES. Gosh!

Fun fact: This was the last game officially released for the NES. Not sure anybody needed to know that, but it's nice trivia.
