Description

Hell Fighter is an unlicensed side-scrolling action-platformer released for the NES/Famicom in 1991. It was developed and published by the Taiwanese company Sachen, known for creating games outside of Nintendo's official licensing system.Plot and SettingYou play as Lee Long, a martial artist trained by a wise master. Your mission is to travel through various mystical and hellish environments to defeat Satan, who has stolen the "Devil Crystal Ball" to plunge the world into darkness.Key Gameplay MechanicsOne-Hit Death: The game is notoriously difficult because any contact with an enemy or projectile results in immediate death (turning your character into a skeleton).Weapon Upgrade System: Power-ups are dropped by certain enemies in the form of cycling colored orbs.Brown Orb: Upgrades your basic daggers. Collecting two makes them homing missiles, which is essential for beating the game.Green Orb: Changes your weapon to fireballs. These are often considered a "downgrade" because they lack the homing ability.Blue Orb: Grants a rotating shield for protection.Level Design: It features 6 stages ranging from forests and caves to the depths of hell, filled with aggressive mythological enemies and challenging boss fights.Cheat Codes & SecretsSince the game is quite punishing, players often use these built-in shortcuts:Stage Select: On the "Options" screen, press A + B on Controller 2 to unlock access to Stages 5 and 6.Rapid Fire & Retry: Press A + B on Controller 2 and then hit the Reset button on the console. This often restarts the game with an automatic firing advantage.CRC Test: Hold A + B + Select + Start on Controller 1 and press Reset to see the internal developer check screen.
