Author’s Note (taken from source YouTube vid):
“Concerto of the Midnight Sun (aka Harmony of Dissonance) is probably my favorite Castlevania soundtrack. It gets a pretty bad rap, but it really is full of incredible ideas, often stuck fighting its technical limitations.
I started this project forever ago and will likely never finish it. The goal was to remaster the whole soundtrack using only the game’s music sequencing (extracted to MIDI) and the game’s mostly single-cycle waveforms. I limited myself to only being able to add effects to the multitracks rather than replace any of the instruments. So everything heard here - the organs, strings, choirs, and guitars are all the original sequencing and instruments/waveforms, just pushed through piles of audio effects. I wanted to express the extremes that the soundtrack makes me feel, especially in its most disorienting and hectic moments.
cheers.”
