Description

Boundary Gate is an old-fashioned RPG with dungeon-like 3D layout. The game is viewed from first-person perspective, with the exception of battles, where the heroes can be seen from an "over-the-shoulder" view. The attacks are animated. Enemies are random, and combat is turn-based, the party members using equipped weapons to attack or magical spells. Important locations are presented as 2D pictures. There is also voice acting for important conversations.

Open a .mid file, with which most people will be familiar, and you will see!

Both PS1 and Saturn music do not use MIDI data. It is technically closer to tracker music.

Confusing. Not sure what the Musical Instrument Digital Interface sounds like.

Please understand I write these notes to find hidden gems of older game music so that other people looking to dive into this stuff may more easily find it. I know my reviews aren't perfect and I'm constantly seeking to improve my knowledge. That said, while I appreciate your insights as you certainly know more of the technical details, your comments towards me frequently feel snide and aren't always helpful (such as this recent one). That said, I'm going to put you on ignore, just because I'm trying to keep the joy in the hobby and getting harped on takes that away. I do wish you the best though (and please feel free to set me on ignore if my comments are a nuisance) and hope all goes well for you!

My Rating: 7/10
Personal Favorites: Sakaba [18]

Midi-sounding album that is not particularly impressive overall.
