| Description: | Description: Assault Rigs is one of several Psygnosis-created PlayStation games which was brought to the Saturn by Perfect Entertainment. The original PlayStation version debuted in early 1996, while this Saturn port did not arrive until much later in September 1997. Both versions are broadly similar, however as with the Saturn ports of Destruction Derby and Wipeout, alpha transparency effects are simulated using a checkerboard "mesh" pattern. Likewise, the Saturn cannot match the frame rate of the PlayStation original, dropping well below the intended 30FPS in busy scenes. This is particularly noticeable in later levels, with are both bigger and utilise more texture-mapped polygons. Support for Dolby Surround was dropped in the Saturn port. |
