This album gives off a fantastic vibe of jazz while keeping the classic feel of the Ace Attorney series. In particular, the Miles Edgeworth, Furio Tigre, and Blue Note Scale series are absolutely fantastic. 10/10, would rate higher if I could.
This is it. The one album that sparked my love for jazz and anything under the vast jazz umbrella. It inspired me to learn every song's trumpet part - including the solos - and encouraged me to join my school's jazz band. It has wonderful variations on many of the games' soundtracks, with my favorite being The Steel Samurai. The vibe of the muted trumpet, the piano and light percussion just makes it. It gives it a sort of old detective show vibe, which really works out well considering the what the song is.
My band director had a listen to this album and said to me the next day; "Somebody should make sheet music for this!" So I took it quite literally and am currently working on sheet music of Furio Tigre - Swinging the Tigre.
Its been a long time since i listen to a jazz music this fine and i never heard of phoenix wright i find this by chance fantastic song and composer 10/10
An amazing jazz album. Also, calm down you guys. I'm guessing he rated it 5/10 because a lot of people think "5-out-of-5-sta rs" rather than "5-out-of-10" if they don't check the rating scale first.
Sounds great. I wish i discovered this more recently. I already am a big fan of the AA series especially the ost of Apollo Justice, so hearing my favorite music in Jazz form makes me so happy. Shoutouts to Godot's theme btw.
This album is perhaps the finest example of fine video game music my ears have ever heard! Classy, wordless soul jazz all the way through. Players of the Gyakuten Saiban series (also known as Ace Attorney) will marvel at these fine jazz covers of also excellent original soundtracks. Listeners of fine jazz music who could not have less to do with video games will also listen and appreciate this music for the fine art it is.
The 'Court Begins Blue Note' series, listed in ascending chronological order of games by release date, are three marvellous introductory tracks.
Track 5 covers the theme of Miles Edgeworth, prosecuting attorney, skillfully and with class.
Godot could down several coffees in the time it takes to listen to track 8, aptly named "The Fragrance of Dark Coffee."
Tension rises as defense attorney Phoenix Wright makes his objection and proceeds to crack open the witness' faulty testimony with logic and intuition.
A truly swinging tune in track 6 captures the character of Furio Tigre superbly.
To conclude, this album is the brilliant result of a clash between marvellous video game music and skillful jazz musicians. Listening to this album, it would be impossible to tell that the music originally came from a video game.
