hey you Voiced are you an idoit? the opening is german dont you read the manga?
in the manga the story still goes on so
you can read it into full content
you can even find characters that is not on the anime and find the story a bit off from the
anime so keep your fingers crossed cause kouta on the manga is more of a sissy than in the
anime

Although in the manga, the only song mentioned was Elfenlied, a German peom, the anime introduced us with the Latin Lilium instead.
I would give Lilium 10.5 out of 10; it has become my new favorite.

Nope. Voiced is not an idoit. Lilium means lily in latin. In german it would be Lilie.

Uh... The song is completely Latin.
Maybe in the manga it's German.. but there's a difference between that and this.

...The opening IS in Latin, dumbass.
The name of the anime is German.
Please do a little research first.
Oh, and I absolutely loved Elfen Lied. It was amazing, and it's the best anime I've seen.
And Lilium is also an amazing song.

Actually the opening is sang in Latin indeed. Though the drawings are based on a German artist, and the title, Elfen Lied, means 'evish song' in German.
Anyways, the anime is great, I'm about to read the manga and the soundtrack is incredible ^^

There's nothing better than crying during watching "Elfen Lied"... Yesterday I watched this again and after the last episode I just couldn't sleep...And this song at the beginning. Queen of sorrows-|-

Elfenlied is the best Anime 4Ever!
The Soundtrack is very wonderful!
My favoutite Soundtrack-Title is "Shinkay" and "Lilium"!
Lilium is latin fool, german is a much more harsh language while latin speaks to the haert, I love the song and lilium...I wish i could have Lily to love and to hold from this cruel world...

Elven Lied, I fallen in love with this anime becouse of Lilium opening...
darn, those soundtracks are awesome
I've seen the anime, I love it. The Lilium songs are the most beautiful songs I ever heard. On a scale of 1 -10 I'd give it a 12+.
The album gave me a special feeling. The feeling of sadness, desperation, loneliness, cruel, hopeless. It made me felt that I have lost everything in the world and everything around me is just darkness and bottomless abyss. It amazingly fit the anime, which also shared the same dark theme.
One of the best OST album ever; very emotional. Not recomended when you are on the verge of sadness and hopelessness.
BTW, Lilium is in Latin and part of it was taken from the Bible. It was written to feel like a Geogrian chant.

Holy crap is all I have to say. This album is awesome.
BTW, you're all idiots for fussing about what language a song is written in. I mean, re-read your reviews... you'll see what I mean by "you're all idiots".
absolutely love the anime and the album. im into lots of anime but elfen lied just wins it 4 me. probably cos it includes violence fights and great design and story line (probably a bit to do with the mild nudity aswell but never mind)to be honest most animes have nudity now adays:3

This is the most amazing anime ever. It's happy yet sad. It's so confusing. I'm happy that the soundtrack is here!

I like the show. But I love the opening theme song. It's one of the most intoxicating, mesmerizing melodies I've ever heard. Beautiful.

The opening song lilium is hauntingly beiutiful. I liked the manga better but I must say when I heard the song for the anime I sat there and watched the whole thing all over again(in actual motion this time...

You know you can actually speak feelings? The only possible way is trought music... Lilium is how you say love... all of the suffering you must endure... all the joy you feel... all the meaning your partner has... what it is to lose him... and to find him... Like Love, lilium is a song that makes you stand in the same place for the whole duration unable to do nothing but listen to it. And like a jealous lover, you feel wrath for all who try to stop that moment... Lilum is how you say Love with words and sounds...

The openning song "Lilium" is in Latin not German.
But the title of the Anime, "Elfen Lied" was derived from a german poem which is also the same title...

This is such a sweet, powerful anime. I've only seen the Japanese version, so I'm hoping that they didn't kill it in English translations...
Anyway... One of the best soundtracks I've ever heard - whoever composed these was a musical genius!
