The Death Note Theme (19) is a master piece... But, all versions of that theme i could get my hands on has a periodic glitch on some segments, and freaks me the hell out!!

The Death Note Theme (music n19) uses the lyrics from Dies Irae, from Mozart, and Kyrie from Kyrie Eleison(From Mozart either), I think this makes the entire OST great! |

My favorites here are the Death Note Theme, the Low of Solipsism, and the last two ones. Great, rich, sophisticated, refreshingly dark anime. |

The soundtrack fits the mood of the show perfectly.
Not only do all of the tracks fit seamlessly in with the ambience of the show, the majority of the tracks are just great songs to listen to actively, as opposed to the passive listening that occurs when one watches the show.
I also love the transition from the more contemporary instrumentals that focus on guitar to the darker, more classic/medieval style instrumentals in the later tracks.
The later tracks truly embody the dark, foreboding, mood of the show. Seriously, Immanence just freaks me out.
While I won't say that I'd listen to all of them casually (such as Immanence or Kinchou), I admit that they are all beautifully arranged and executed, and that they serve their purpose in the show.
My favorites have to be both Death Note and the Death Note Theme.
All in all, a beautiful soundtrack. |

For some reason the Death Note soundtrack reminds me a lot of the Silent Hill soundtrack.

I think all the Death Note soundtracks are fantastic! My personal favourites are the following:
Kyrie II (from OST 2)
Low of Solipsism (from both 1st and 2nd OST)
Domine Kira is great, and I love the two Maximum the hormone songs from OST II
I think the worst OST is the 3rd, but that's not too bad. |
