I think you're right.I'm pretty sure nomura said that the nights were new characters, but that doesn't mean that like PoK said, there will be an entirely new cast of characters I highly doubt that there will be no returning roles at all

Sora/Kairi/Riku: I think he's dead, because Zexion had no weapon to defend him, and he didn't have time and was too injured to get a replica Keyblade out again or make another weapon. I think the screen went black just because they didn't know how to show the death scenes, or wanted to scare the players a little with the noise and evil qoutes. Just like when Replica Riku attacks Vexen and kills him, the screen went dark when that happened.

When was that stated, we dont know that much. There is a chance that he could have blocked it. Or maybe that was one of his illusions, maybe he wants everyone to think he is dead so he can get away and do something else.
