Haven't played the game myself, but apparently the editors severely messed up the files. The musician explains here: https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=11757.msg357985#msg357985

They also point out that you need a specific soundfont for the files to sound correct.

Good ripping job, but this was never my preferred version of the Cave Story soundtrack to be honest. Even as a wee little child I thought the original tracks sounded better, and this Wii version was my first introduction to this game too. I never knew the freeware version existed until a couple years ago. I mean, some tracks are fine, but nearly all of them I prefer the original.

Personally I'd rate the soundtrack a 5/10 as it's not terrible but they aren't really earworms as much as the originals were.
