Mega Man X5 (PS1) (gamerip) (2000)

Mega Man X5 is the beginning of a decline in quality when it comes to the X games. It isn't bad, but has a lot of problems, such as gameplay and level design being lesser compared to previous titles. As for the Mavericks, the naming theme in the West was based on the TV series Guns and Roses. I always thought that was kinda cool, and their overall design rocks. Speaking of rocks, the soundtrack slaps. The sound font mixes the X4 sound with some more rock elements. It works well. Not to mention the song X Vs. Zero made its first appearance in this game. One of the best songs in the X series, and an amazing battle theme.
Favorites:
Tidal Whale's Stage
Volt Kraken's Stage
Spike Rosered's Stage
Dark Necrobat's Stage
Burn Dinorex's Stage
X Vs. Zero

As someone who doesn't like X5-X7, I can agree. I was disappointed in this game after how much I really enjoyed the last 4 games that X5 felt like a tedious slog with uninteresting levels. Also I got really good plot RNG the first time I played through this game that Zero didn't turn Maverick and the Enigma destroyed Eurasia when I only had 2 of the 4 recommended parts. Also I really like how the Tidal Whale stage theme is a remix of Bubble Crab's from X2.
