The Gameboy Mega Man games were mentioned on the Mega Man Xtreme forums so I was inspired I guess? To write about them here.

Mega Man Dr. Wily's Revenge was the first game in the Gameboy series I played, but it was the last one I beat. (I have a copy of it actually) It can be tough at times due to not having the slide or charge shot, but overall it's beatable. Even so, it is still one of the hardest Gameboy Mega Man games. Much like the Xtreme games it reuses bosses from past entries in its series. The first Gameboy Mega Man game uses bosses from MM1 and MM2. Unlike the Xtreme games, which copied stages (as Harpuia mentioned), Mega Man Dr. Wily's Revenge makes completely new ones. These new stages keep the game fresh and stops the game from feeling like a lesser version of another game.

You only have 4 bosses at the start, but this time there is no unlockable that lets you fight 8 bosses. This is because there is only 4 Robot Master stages, but 8 Robot Masters in the game. How? Well, in the final stages, instead of a boss rush against the Robot Masters you fought already, it is a boss rush against Robot Masters from Mega Man 2! This makes the boss rush less stale, because I've always seen them as a way to reuse bosses and stretch out game time, and I'm not the biggest fan of that. X1 did a good job of it and so did this game! (I forgot to mention, but the 4 Robot Masters that have stages are bosses from Mega Man 1)

This game also introduces the first Mega Man Killer, Enker. His fight has a cool mechanic and his design rocks, so it isn't all reused characters in this game either. Overall, Mega Man Dr. Wily's Revenge was a good attempt at a Mega Man game on Gameboy. The Gameboy series would continue and much improve on the mechanics and story found in this game. (Well, kinda with the story)

This is very much NOT how these songs are supposed to sound..every instrument is off in some way, and why is the Stage Select track EIGHT MINUTES LONG? It's supposed to loop after like 30-40 seconds.

This soundtrack is pretty good, the stage themes are just remixes of the original Cut Man, Elec Man, Fire Man, and Ice Man stage themes.

Most of the soundtrack is alright (mostly just Gameboy versions of the NES tracks), but I really like the boss music. It sounds kinda like a more simplistic ersion of Mega Man 2's boss music but has a sinister tone to it. It's different enough to give it it's own feel.

I like the Wily Theme but every other song is okay.
