I instantly recognized the source of the percussion in the final battle theme when I first heard it; it's GarageBand's Big Room. :0
 
I don't mean to be cynical but this soundtrack is worse than the GBA version because it blatantly uses stock Logic Pro instruments...

Maybe sort of unrelated but the mention of stock instruments reminded me that I feel like Mario soundtracks have started to sound a bit generic these days. A good amount of the Mario Wonder soundtrack sound like stock royalty free music or something Nintendo would compose for the Wii series games to me and lacks some of that "Mario-style" that Koji Kondo and a few others had in their works before.

To each their own. I personally like the newer games' soundtracks (then again, I like any Nintendo soundtrack, sooooooo...)
 
I personally prefer the new version, i think its really nice on the ears and its really relaxing, which really fits a puzzle game
