kiante: Birth by sleep can't refer to the period in which Sora was asleep in Namine's pod. English getting a little rusty there? Birth by sleep has to refer to a something being born, because of something going to sleep, I would assume Sora going to sleep in Namine's pod. But it can't refer to him being asleep. And he wasn't in any alternate existence while he slept, he was just sleeping. Like when you get hooked up to an EEG, you just sleeping regularly.
