I chose shield and my kingdom key has defender I chose sword the 2nd time and my kingdom key has combo plus although predominantly, choosing the sword, wand or shield affects what stat is leveled up....for roxas, choosing the sword, hand guard or staff affects his strength, defence and mp respectively.
