I admit that I had accepted his assumption that the West banned it without checking it, as I had heard similar things, but the crux of my argument remains - the ban would make sense. It would be similar to a ban on seriously advocating reinstitution of slavery in the US. Needlessly contraversial, likely to cause violence, etc.
