Game Testing Jobs Game testing is the process of making sure any particular game works. AAA games will usually begin their testing cycles in alpha stages, while smaller budget games will start to be tested once they have a release candidate ready.
There are 5 main areas in which games need to be tested: compliance, compatibility, localization, soaking, and lastly, functionality. The last test is what usually people look forward to - playing triple-A games for hours before they are even released. You will have to note down different bugs, errors, glitches, and report them to the programmers.
Game testing is achieved by professional game testers. These are people who's job is to play video games to make sure they are free of bugs, and the games can be released to users to enjoy. Game testing is not an easy job - you will have to spend seemingly endless hours playing video games, to identify and repeat bugs you may be required to play the same levels for hours. The rewards are, of course, great - you get to play unreleased games, you get to be a master of a popular game before it is even released.
Game testing is usually thought of as a stepping stone position - if you ever wish work in the gaming industry, you will most likely need to start off as a game tester. So what are you waiting for?
