mendia: What I did was use a pretty generic splatter brush to smudge with some varied settings. I would smudge just soft brushing of pretty colors I would pick out and a few times I made triangle shapes with a sharp angle focusing on the center-bottom part, and smudged the edges, etc. (I added the bird towards the end.)
And many many deleting, revising, and adjustment layers later, I came up with this.
