Unlike Harman who just gave the suckiest review ever, I shall have the decency to give my personal opinion on the subject of this soundtrack. First off, I like techno, and I like horror, and this game actually manages to do both at the same time, which may come off as weird for you as you may think, "God-darn, that's awkward, man." Exactly, much like the premises of the actual game, so it would only make sense. Secondly, this is all VERY ambient. The boss battles are all very appropriately action-paced and fast, and when not in a great deal of action, tracks like Histrical Note and Basement C sound like you're going down long, gigantic, spacious hallways with absolutely nothing in them, occasionally enemies. But that's because you ARE going down hallways like that, and every song here just fits appropriately to every event, unmemorable as any of it may be. And don't tell me Requiem Manentia isn't at least somewhat original for you to hear. Techno-opera has definitely been done before, but this one totally focuses more on the Opera side of things than the techno, in my opinion. And it's dramatic. You can't have enough drama these days, even from Hayden Panettiere. My final score for this soundtrack is an 8 out of 10. When you hear stuff like Ash's final boss fight, you know that whoever composed this put a lot of effort into making it. And I respect that, as I do techno and horror, my tastes. Weird, huh? Well, I'm just weird like that. |
