Nihon Falcom does not have a good track record with porting their music to the Turbografx. In my opinion, the native synth tracks are stronger just because they use the Turbografx's instrumentation well and are good expressions of the instrument. By contrast, the new tracks (1.9 to 1.15) composed for CD Audio are just not that memorable. The old synth tracks rendered in CD Audio just lose their umph as well: They go from being great synth music to good CD audio. Overall, it is Popful Mail, so it's good, but it's definitely a weaker rendition of the tracks. Go listen to the PC-88 and PC-98 (OPNA) renditions, they're just much better.
